The brazing process
to permanently bond
tungsten carbide and steel

Monitored manufacturing

brazing machine
Betek tools are made of tough materials – tungsten carbide and steel. Tungsten carbide is used for the wear – resistant tip and steel is used for the tool shank. Tools reach very high temperatures during normal use and since tungsten carbide and steel have very different thermal expansion coefficients, high tensile stresses are generated between the two materials. A special brazing material used to join the tip and tool shank, helps to absorb these extreme stresses.
We have developed unique methods and systems for our brazing process. Manufacturing parameters are fully monitored and documented to ensure consistent quality. Afterwards brazing shear strengths are checked to make certain our customers on the job site lose no time due to broken tools.
