Extreme demands are placed on the tools in natural stone extraction.
The tests that Betek will shortly be starting with Kleemann GmbH are going to be extremely interesting. Kleemann is a leading specialist company in crushing and screening plant for preparing and recycling natural stone and is testing the use of tungsten carbide tools on impact crushers.
Kleemann is one of the longest established brands in the international Wirtgen Group of Companies. Mobile or stationary Kleemann impact crushers are used to extract natural stone or prepare building rubble.
And Kleemann does not leave it at merely reducing the volume. Instead, Kleemann machines crush the material to such an extent that grain shape, grain size distribution and purity all conform to the high demands of the standards for concrete and asphalt granulation. These are applications in which the tools are put under extreme strain – Betek’s tungsten carbide tools will be subjected here to the ultimate test of toughness.
The expectations, of course, are high – after all tungsten carbide has proved itself very well as a form of protection against wear in many different fields, outdoing traditional materials by a long way. The tools being used in the tests have been developed specifically for this application in collaboration with Kleemann, who, as leaders in their area of technology, lay great value on user-friendliness. “We are sure that together we will succeed not only in reducing costs caused by wear and tear,” says Betek Key Account Manager Bernhard Moosmann, “but also in enhancing the performance and cost-efficiency of the impact crushers in general.”
