Long-life bit range: tungsten carbide tools that keep rotating longer

New, increasingly higher capacity road milling machines demand ever better and longer lasting tools, as whenever these new ‘super machines’ are in use, any unscheduled stop, e.g. to change tools or even complete holder systems, is more than ever before an expensive business.

An answer to the demand for high-tech tools for high-tech machines is being given by Betek at BAUMA, where the leading manufacturer of tungsten carbide tipped tools will be showing a new generation of round shank cutter bits that have the required durability in every respect: the new LL (Long Life) range. A new feature of the LL range is a strengthened wear disc for extra holder protection and a reinforced sleeve to ensure the bit sits in the holder perfectly. Between sleeve, wear disc and steel body there is a labyrinth. This reduces the penetration of dirt into the holder hole. Any impurities can impair the manner of tool rotation in the holder, which is designed to ensure that the tools wear in a particularly slow and even fashion. The bit head presents itself in the typical, unmistakable Betek design. Use of these improved tools significantly increases working cycles and thus also the output capabilities of modern road milling machines. Compared to other makes, the tungsten carbide tips in proven Betek quality also make excellent tool utilisation possible even in extreme milling conditions.

Last but not least, the new tool series also makes the difficult work easier for machine operators, as they can look forward to significantly longer maintenance intervals.
