SIMON GROUP

BETEK belongs to the SIMON GROUP as an independent company. The SIMON GROUP has developed from the company Karl Simon, which was founded as early as 1918, and today consists of the companies SIMON Sinterlutions, SITEK and BETEK as well as the profit centers SIMON Tooling and SIMON Analytics.

The headquarters of the SIMON GROUP is located in Aichhalden near Schramberg. In total our group of companies employs around 740 people. The individual companies have been subsidiaries of the listed INDUS-Holding AG since 1992. All divisions operate both independently and jointly on the market.

Whether administration, purchasing, quality management, electronics workshop, laboratory, toolmaking or IT – at the SIMON GROUP, flat hierarchies and flexible processes are a matter of course in all areas.

Using complex pressing and sintering processes, SIMON Sinterlutions manufactures high-quality, sophisticated, ready-to-install components that are used in the automotive, power tools, mechanical engineering and furniture industries.

With SIMON Analytics, we have an in-house testing laboratory where we carry out corrosion tests, climatic tests and coating thickness measurements, as well as other special tests on request.

SIMON Tooling manufactures tools for its own needs and for external customers. This involves maintenance, as well as the construction of samples and the production of small series.

SITEK produces tungsten carbide tipped tools, tungsten carbide powder and studs for winter tires. As one of the leading manufacturers, SITEK has established itself as a technology partner of the major tire manufacturers, and is involved in the development process of new tire models at well-known tire manufacturers.

Sustainability

As a company that operates sustainably, we feel our obligation to future generations. We attach great importance to the preservation of the environment and rely on an active environmental and energy management system. As in all areas of the company, our thoughts and actions are subject to the principle of continuous improvement.

Based on legal and regulatory requirements, the planning and actions of all employees are geared to the responsible use of energy, raw materials and supplies. In doing so, we follow the guidelines: avoid, reduce, recycle and talk about it.

In addition to designing environmentally friendly or environmentally compatible processes and products, we pay attention to controlled energy consumption. We regularly improve all the measures necessary for this through systematic and structured procedures, energy-efficient technologies and the use of renewable energies.

Our environmental and energy management system is based on ISO 14001 respectively ISO 50001 and is continuously being optimized. This is based on the implementation of an environmental and energy policy that is firmly anchored in our corporate principles.

Quality Management

Our highest quality goal is: working towards “zero errors.” We fulfill this claim by implementing our quality policy and continuously developing our quality management system. It’s not just about detecting and fixing errors quickly – they shouldn’t happen in the first place.

“Engineered & made in Germany” is a promise of quality to which we attach the greatest importance. Based on our corporate principles, our products and services are characterized by quality, performance, technical progress and the best possible economic benefit for our customers.

Our quality management system – something that dictates every aspect of our work – is described in our quality management manual on the standard basis of ISO 9001 following IATF 16949 and is binding for the entire SIMON GROUP. The goal of our entire process performance is to establish a good and preferably lasting customer relationship, and to continuously improve ourselves and our services.

The decisive factors are our highly motivated employees and our partners. In addition to professional skills, social factors also play an important role. Satisfied, confident and entrepreneurial employees form the basis for the high quality of our products. A quality that we also expect from our partners and suppliers.

HEALTH PROTECTION

The health of our employees is very important to us. It is – just like compliance with occupational health and safety topics – an important part of our corporate culture. Accordingly, we work systematically to optimize working conditions – with a constant focus on health and safety. In doing so, we are guided by the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (AMS) according to ISO 45001. Consistent application of these preventive measures prevents accidents, reduces absenteeism and improves the general health situation of our team.

PURCHASING

As in all other areas, we also attach great importance to comprehensive sustainability in purchasing. This is also reflected in our requirements for current and potential suppliers.

MATERIALS LABORATORY

In order to manufacture the highest quality products, seamless quality assurance is required. Therefore, in addition to the careful analysis of all raw materials supplied, we also carry out testing of our own powder mixtures and granules. In addition, all our semi-finished parts and sintered parts are also subject to constant testing. For example, we measure hardness or determine carbon content or magnetic characteristics. With regard to tungsten carbide grades, tests are carried out, in particular, for density, flexural strength and wear.

All measurements and tests in our laboratory are carried out with the most modern equipment. These include, for example, an ICP spectrometer for elemental analysis, various light microscopes for assessing microstructures, and a scanning electron microscope with up to 10,000 x magnification. A laboratory attritor for process and product development, a rotary evaporator and laboratory furnaces for near-series sintering are also fixed components of our laboratory equipment.

System partners

Wirtgen has been a Betek customer since 1982. In the meantime, this has developed into a system partnership with the entire Wirtgen Group. Initially, the partnership covered the product areas of road construction, surface mining and stabilization. In the meantime, BETEK is also working successfully with the companies Kleemann and Hamm – among others in the product area of crushing and mixing. This ideal combination of the leading manufacturer of tungsten carbide-tipped wear tools – BETEK – and the successful manufacturer of machines for road construction – WIRTGEN – guarantees customers solutions at the highest level.
